THE REFUGE

A Mindfulness-Based Stress Management and Practice Enrichment Service for Duke Physicians

Duke Integrative Medicine invites Duke physicians to ongoing sessions, designed to help manage the delicate balance of academic and hospital demands. THE REFUGE provides the opportunity to learn skills for "being present" and managing stress that could help you, your patients and your colleagues. We offer instruction in a variety of evidence-based techniques designed to support physicians’ well-being and stress management.

This free program is open to all Duke physicians (including residents and fellows).

  • Our sessions are designed in a "drop-in" format; you are welcome to attend any or all—whenever you have time available.
  • Physician spouses (or significant others) are invited to attend the Open Sessions on Tuesday Evenings.
  • No experience, self-introduction or speaking required.
  • No long-term commitment is required.

We invite you to join us to explore how this service may help you enrich your practice and develop personally and professionally.
