The Immersion Experience

During your stay at Duke Integrative Medicine, our team of health professionals will assess and treat your whole person and offer you the best of conventional and complementary care available. We will work collaboratively, sharing our observations with each other and with you. Supported by your very own team of experts and surrounded by our healing environment, you will begin to experience new, healthy, and balanced ways of living.

Program Elements

Duke Integrative Medicine's Immersion Experience, one of our signature services, offers you the essence of our integrative approach and an experience that can change your life. We believe there is a powerful interrelationship between the mind, body, spirit, and community in both health and disease.

Together, we will create a customized health plan that integrates the best of conventional and complementary medicine, ensuring that your Immersion Experience will continue to shape your health long after you return home.

Your three-day Immersion Experience includes:

Medical & Therapeutic Sessions

• Pre-assessment discussions to determine the right combination of services and sessions to address your personal needs and goals
• 90-minute integrative medicine physician consultation and examination (as needed) which will provide the foundation of your care
• Five therapeutic sessions or consults, selected by you and our clinical team

Integrative Case Conference & Health Plan

• Your physicians, providers, and health coach will meet to share their observations and create recommendations for optimizing your health; this high level of coordination ensures a comprehensive and truly integrative approach
• Wrap-up session with your physician to review your personalized health plan and the recommendations and insights discussed in your case conference

Health Coaching

• Initial session designed to help you explore and clarify your goals
• Personalized Health Plan developed by you and your physician, health coach, and therapeutic team based on collaborative and integrative assessments
• Regular check-ins with your health coach during your stay, and a session following your last physician visit to discuss putting the plan into action when you return home
• Health coaching sessions, including individual and group calls, following your visit to help you overcome obstacles to achieving your health goals

Classes, Workshops and Relaxation

• A balanced schedule of classes and workshops covering a wide range of movement and educational topics, providing a foundation in mindfulness and self-care strategies and skills
• Delightful and nutritious cafe meals and snacks throughout your stay
• Time to immerse yourself in our unique facility including the spa, fitness room, meditative spaces, and tranquil surroundings

Further diagnostic tests, consultations or therapeutic services may be medically indicated and individually recommended, requiring a longer stay for some participants. Our programs are flexible, allowing you to add extra services or additional days. We also offer corporate and group immersion options based on group goals and needs. The Immersion Experience is also offered as a part of our Platinum Enrollment package, which provides a full year of integrative care in addition to the Immersion Experience.
